Context

  • Gair Rhydd is a Cardiff student newspaper.
  • The project is focused on making the paper easier to ingest, review, publish and read online.

  • The platform needs to make current stories easy to browse while keeping long-form articles and complete newspaper issues comfortable to read.
  • Behind the public experience, a student newsroom needs reliable tools for turning print issues and source material into reviewable digital stories.

Our approach

  • The direction balances a recognisable newspaper hierarchy with a calmer digital reading experience across individual stories and complete issues.
  • Editorial tools keep the source issue, extracted story and revision decisions connected so the newsroom can move from print to web with clearer control.
